Account of Bailey's life to 1877, including information about his early life in England, the conversion of author and other family members to Mormonism, and their 1855 emigration to Utah. Also includes information about the Utah War, Bailey's work as a teamster for church teams bringing immigrants to Utah in the early 1860s, and his activities as a resident of Wellsville.
Autobiography is followed by an "epic poem" identified as a "sketch of the life and travails of Susannah Hawkins Bailey" by Susannah C.H. Jackman, giving an account of Susannah Bailey's life to about 1920 with Bailey speaking in first person. Includes information similar to that found in MS 8237 item 10.
