Summary:

Entries describe Spat's conversion to Church in 1949 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, his baptism in March 1950, and his later service as president of Sao Paulo District and counselor in Sao Paulo Temple presidency.

Entries also describe his interaction with General Authorities including A. Theodore Tuttle, W. Grant Bangerter, Ted E. Brewerton, F. Burton Howard, and James E. Faust. Entries also describe visits of President Spencer W. Kimball for first Brazil Area conference in 1975 and dedication of Sao Paulo Temple in 1978. Diaries contain information about construction of temple and include descriptions of dedication events.

Diaries also include brief minutes of district presidency meetings with Brazilian Mission president W. Grant Bangerter when Spat served as district president. Spat's minutes include references to Brazilian Church leaders such as Jose Lombardi, Osiris Cabral, Walter Queiroz, Saul Messias de Oliveira, Helio da Rocha Camargo, and Bangerter's successor as Brazilian Mission president, Wayne M. Beck.

Many entries describe sacrifices of Brazilian Church members to attend Sao Paulo Temple. Correspondence from First Presidency, photographs, and newspaper articles are interspersed throughout diaries. Last entries in April 1989 describe Spat's deteriorating health shortly before his death. Some volumes are missing, including those describing Spat's service as first president of Sao Paulo Stake.
