Description:
Includes account of missionary travels from Jackson County, Missouri to Kirtland, Ohio, at times in company with William Batson, Solomon Wixom, Harvey Whitlock, and Charles C. Rich; and account of several missionary journeys in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. Coltrin's missionary companions included Jesse Gause and John F. Boynton, and diary entries of 1-19 August 1832 are written by Gause. Coltrin also met with other missionaries, including David Patten, Hyrum Smith, William Smith, Orson Pratt, Amasa Lyman, Lyman Johnson, and Sidney Rigdon. Diaries also include information concerning visits with Leman Copley at Thompson, Ohio; visits with Salmon Gee, Lucien Woodworth, and other early Church members; and association with Joseph Smith and the School of the Prophets. Includes lists of early Church members. Also includes a copy of the articles and covenants of the Church (Doctrine and Covenants, sections 20 and 42) as recorded by John Whitmer.
