Contents: Mr. ...[?] ... I was authorized by Reynolds Cahoon to dispose of the right for using the patent washing machine in the County of Portage Mr. Cahoon informed me that there was a machine left with you in pawn that belonged to him which he wished me to take and pay you your due from him ---As I have sold the above territory to Mr. Burk you will oblige me if you will let him have the machine by his paying the amount your due from Mr. Cahoon --- [Signature]

Description:
Personal property and chattel taxes, totalling $3.97 and 8 mills, paid to Treasurer's Office, Geauga County, Ohio, for the year 1828. The taxes were for three lots, comprising lots 17, 18, and 5, each located within range 9, town 9, tract 1. The names on the document are illegible, one appears to be "Holmes."

Description:
A single listing probably to the account of A. S. [Algernon Sidney] Gilbert for lumber purchased or sold by the business. It appears on the document with other arithmetic calculations written in monetary units on the reverse side. Notations record the sawing of two types of lumber, including 2747 feet of w w[?] and 1188 feet of oak. This could have been lumber purchased from Gilbert by Burk or an associate of Burk's. [Gilbert bought and sold property and was a merchant or store proprietor in Painesville, Ohio and later with Newell K. Whitney in Kirtland. --See: My servant Algernon Sidney Gilbert, by Geraldine H. [Apparent reference to D&C 63:41, revelation dated Aug. 1831, pertaining to those to be chosen by the Prophet Joseph Smith to go to the land of Zion]
